August Burns Red was a medium heavy frigate built by the planet Wolf's Head for long-range, deep space exploration and strategic defense. It was part of a tranche of six medium heavy cruisers of common design and armament and sister ship to A Day to Remember. The ship's name, August Burns Red, is a reference to the Battle of Wolf's Head in the Second Aurelian War in which an entire Aurelian invasion fleet was defeated in a single day. During the battle, an Aurelian cruiser entered the atmosphere over Wolf's Head and crashed into a northern lake, igniting a forest fire and turning the lake's waters blood red.
